New Mexico Tech (NMT), located in Socorro, New Mexico, is known for its excellence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) centered education and research. What many people don't know is that NMT also offers a series of affordable teacher education programs for all levels that can help students progress in their teaching careers, become better STEM educators, and contribute to education in a meaningful way.

  • The Undergraduate Minor in Secondary Education. Courses to complete the minor can be taken by undergraduates working toward their bachelor's degree in any field. Upon graduation, students will emerge with not only a bachelor's degree, but also a Level 1 Teaching License.

  • The Alternative Licensure Program (ALP). This certificate program provides those who already possess a bachelor's degree in any subject with a path to earning their teaching license. ALP students are able to obtain full-time teaching jobs while simultaneously earning their teaching license.

  • The Master of Science for Teachers program (MST). This graduate program allows licensed teachers with at least a year of teaching experience to earn their master's degree in STEM education while they continue to work.
